Introduction to Glyphosate:
Glyphosate is a widely used agricultural herbicide with anti-microbial and anti-parasitic properties.
Its use has been increasing at a terrifying rate for the last 30 years and many illnesses and conditions have been rising in step with Glyphosate use.

Glyphosate was patented by Monsanto in 1970 and first came to market in 1974. It was not until the mid 1990s that its use as a herbicide became widespread, thanks to the introduction of Glyphosate Resistant GMO crops.
Monsanto blends Glyphosate with other nasty chemicals to make the product Round-up. The combined effect of these chemicals makes Round-up vastly more effective than Glyphosate alone. Now days other companies can produce herbicides contain varying levels of Glyphosate and associated propriety chemicals. |
Although we know Glyphosate as a herbicide it has been shown to have powerful anti-microbial and anti-parasitic properties and unfortunately it is extremely effective at dispatching beneficial bacteria while feeding many harmful stains...
Glyphosate is also capable of chelating various essential minerals. The combination of these properties is having far-reaching consequences that the scientific world is only just beginning to accept. One aspect of Glyphosate use that is causing great concern is Pre Harvest Desiccation. |
Pre Harvest Desiccation:
Pre Harvest Desiccation by Glyphosate has become common practise in the last decades...
This involves spraying Glyphosate onto crops to kill the plants, forcing the harvest to coincide with good weather. This practice has been widely adopted as waiting for the crop to ripen naturally, presents the farmers with the risk of losing the crop due to adverse weather conditions that are now common at the end of summer, due to climate change.
The practice of "Pre Harvest Dedication" by Glyphosate has become industry standard for the following crops:
This has two major drawbacks for the consumers:
What do you think happens if you kill off a plant and harvest it before the fruit or seeds are ripe?
It is our opinion that eating under ripe food harvested in this way, presents us with Glyphosate and Lectin poisoning compounded by a lack of proper nutrition, due to Glyphosates ability to deplete the soils mineral content and block the production of essential amino acids.

The practice of "Pre Harvest Dedication" by Glyphosate has become industry standard for the following crops:
- Wheat, Corn, Soybean, Beet, Cotton, Canola, and Alfalfa.
This has two major drawbacks for the consumers:
- Firstly, what we are eating contains a lot of extra Glyphosate, with levels far higher than if the farmer only used the product to control competing weeds early in the growing season.
- The second and often overlooked aspect is that most plants produce lectins or some other defence mechanisms to discourage animals from eating their seeds or fruit before it is ready. Once the fruit has matured the plant lowers the lectin level making it edible. This is why you will often see birds testing a single piece of fruit on a tree, they will carry on pecking at that one fruit for a few weeks until they decide it is ripe, only then do they descend and eat all the fruit. Apparently even the birds are smarter us.

Damage Resulting Form Glyphosate Exposure.
Glyphosate has now been shown to cause damage to our bodies both directly and indirectly.
One must remember that Glyphosate is not acting alone, many of the issues that can be clearly linked to Glyphosate have other contributing factors and complex chains of cause and effect. One of the issues that we face in dealing with this situation is, the scientific community would rather argue semantics than facts, and somehow the onus has been placed upon us the consumers to prove that Glyphosate is harmful, rather than the manufacture proving its safety.

- Glyphosate use resulting in mineral deficiency.
Glyphosate is a reasonable effective chelating agent and its long-term use is resulting in soils that exhibit mineral deficiency.
Even though Glyphosate's ability to capture minerals is lower than other naturally occurring soil chelating agents, it appears to have the ability prevent available minerals from moving through a plant properly. - Harmful to beneficial soil and intestinal bacteria, promoting Microbial Dysbiosis.
Glyphosate harms beneficial bacteria and fungi, while promoting the growth of harmful strains.
Damage to the microbiome results in an inability to properly digest food, setting up a cascade of bio-chemical issues.
The same bacteria live in the soil and are responsible for presenting nutrients to plants, without them plants simply don't grow properly. It is interesting to note that, plants are much better at dealing with mineral deficiency than animals and can appear to be quite healthy, even under server conditions. - Lack of basic / Minerals, Amino acids, Proteins and Neurotransmitters.
When the minerals are missing from the soil plants are unable to build amino acids and other complex molecules.
As the bacteria are effected, they are no longer able to provide their essential metabolites such as melatonin and serotonin.
Critical base amino acids are now in short supply, you will understand the significance of this once you understand how Glyphosate works as a herbicide. - Damage to the epithelium cells that make up the Gut Lining, Blood Brain Barrier and Glands.
Epithelium cells act as an intelligent and selective membrane that defines "Where our bodies start and the outside world ends".
Their job is to allow desirable material in while keeping out anything harmful.
In our opinion IBS is a direct result of Glyphosate poisoning, progressing onto Leaky Gut Syndrome if the issue is not addressed. - Damage to Hormonal and Immune system.
Organs such as the Thyroid Gland are made entirely of Epithelium cells.
Anything that damages this type of cell with result in hormonal and immune systems problems. - Micro doses of Glyphosate causes disruption to the endocrine system.
The endocrine system monitors and controls hormones released by the glands. The Glands release chemicals directly into the circulatory system to regulate distant target organs. The thyroid and adrenal glands are our most important glands. - Damage to the Mitochondria:
Mitochondria are the power house of the cell, they are independent lifeforms that developed a symbiotic relationship with animal cells millions of years ago. Like beneficial bacteria they are harmed by Glyphosate and many other environmental contaminants. When they die off the lights go out. - High Levels Glyphosate causes damage to the Kidneys.
Kidney cells are the most sensitive type of cells in the body, and they are the first to be affected by any contamination.
This it why they are used as a reference point when determining any toxic or negative effect that a chemical may have. - Glyphosate binds with heavy metals such as Aluminium.
Chelating metals like aluminium aids their movement through the body while making them more bio-reactive. - The combination of these effects results in the following physical or mental conditions.
Lack of physical and mental energy, problems sleeping, depression, anxiety, autism, Alzheimer, ADHD, Parkinson's and more. - The latest studies show a link between Glyphosate exposure and some forms of cancer.
There is still a lot of debate as to exactly how all this works, as many of the detrimental effects of Glyphosate are happening upstream or are a result of a chain of secondary issues.
Glyphosate is not the only contaminant that causes these issues but it is one of the big factors...
Remember we are not looking for a single thing that is to blame for causing all our problems, we are looking at the whole arena of environmental contamination to see how it all fits together... As you keep reading we will start to build the links.

Protection from Glyphosate:
Before we go any deeper it is time to give you some solutions to the Glyphosate problem....
HUMIC ACID is our go-to solution for dealing with issues resulting from the ingestion of Glyphosate.
We recommend taking a pharmaceutical grade Humic acid such as WH67, sold by Health Shield under the brand name of
MOLECUSAN CAPTURE.

Option 1 Stop Eating food that contains Glyphosate:
This is not so easy as Glyphosate has leached into the environment and is now everywhere, it can even be found in rain water and organic food. It is critical to avoid all GMO foods, as these crops have been altered so that they are unaffected by Glyphosate. How ells could you spray a herbicide on your crop without killing it? Very high levels of Glyphosate can be found in Bread and Milk. If you are suffering from gluten or lactose intolerance switching to products that are free from these things is the first step. When doing this it is essential that you also switch to a fully organic or at least non GMO product... When you change from cow's milk to a non-organic soya, you may simply be exchanging one source of Glyphosate for another! |

What is Glyphosate designed to do and how does it work?
Glyphosate disrupts and blocks the Shikimate pathway and chelates minerals.
You can read that much on any site that talks about Glyphosate, but I’ve yet to see anyone explain what that means.
What you will not often read is that Glyphosate also effects the P450 enzyme.

Glyphosate and the Shikimate pathway:
The Shikimate Pathway is a seven-step metabolic pathway used by Plants, Algae, Bacteria and Fungi for the production of 3 key amino acids. Glyphosate blocks this process so the effected organisms are unable to create these basic building blocks of life resulting in their untimely demise.
Of course one must realize that these amino acids are essential to us as well, and we are completely reliant upon plants and beneficial gut bacteria to produce them for us. |
Is Glyphosate Toxic to people and animals?
According to Monsanto, Glyphosate is non-toxic to animals. Animal biology does not use the Shikimate path way, there for we are supposedly unaffected by Glyphosate. Monsanto recently published a study stating:
Insert source of that statement and link to our discussion on it. |
Bacteria and Plants also use the Shikimate pathway for the production of the following:

To Chelate: (pronounced Key Late) Meaning to grab or bind with:
Chelation is a special form of chemical bonding that relates to how metal ions (Minerals) are strongly bound to large complex molecules, they tend to form large and extremely strong ring like structure. The connotation is that they are now unavailable in any normal sense as they have become either;
- Permanently locked into the new compound and there for completely unavailable for any subsequent reactions or.
- They are bound to a new compound to change their performance or properties in some way.
Chelation is in its self not a bad thing, in some cases one may wish to chelate a mineral to make it more bio available.
Just not in the case at hand.
Glyphosate will readily chelate the following minerals:

Glyphosate and the Cytochrome / P450 enzyme.
Cytochrome P450 or CYP's are a superfamily of iron based proteins that catalyse the oxidation of a wide range of compounds such as steroids and fatty acids. They are important for hormone synthesis and breakdown and used by the Liver to detoxify other toxic elements. A remarkable feature of the P-450s is their versatility and adaptability, performing a wide range of functions in organisms across the natural world, being found in bacteria, fungi, plants and animals.
- P-450s have been described as "the most versatile biological catalyst known."
- Beneficial bacteria use both the Shikimate pathway and CYP's, so they are doubly effected.
- Although our bodies do not use the Shikimate pathway we do use CYP's.
Summary:
Glyphosate contamination results in the following:
- Causes deficiency of essential minerals and amino acids.
- Kills beneficial bacteria.
- Damages the epithelium cells and the all important blood brain barrier.
- Aides the movement of heavy metals in the body making them even more bio active.
- Disrupts most if not all regulatory functions.
